Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
dedicated to finding a cure

The Milwaukee Region Porsche Club of America has again selected to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at its second staging of The Milwaukee Cup

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was begun in 1970 by parents of children with the disease who understood that managing juvenile diabetes was not the answer. The only acceptable answer was to cure it and they also understood, that only intensive research would yield a cure.

Today, JDRF funds more research toward curing Type 1 diabetes than any other non-profit, nongovernmental organization in the world, now contributing over $900 million in grants for diabetes research to the worlds leading laboratories, universities, and medical centers. More than 80% of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research related education.

The research has three primary objectives: restoring normal blood sugar levels; avoiding and reversing diabetes-related complications; and preventing diabetes and its recurrence.

Exciting progress is being made under JDRF’s leadership. Multidisciplinary research teams are exploring new opportunities afforded by recent advances in biomedical science, targeting such key areas as islet transplantation tolerance; cell therapy; vascular inflammation and complications; and the genetics of Type 1 diabetes.

As a result of today’s research, children with diabetes and their families now have more reason than ever to be optimistic.

Please join us as the Milwaukee Region volunteers host a silent auction of donated goods and services at the The Milwaukee Cup. All proceeds will be used to benefit the work done by JDRF.
